Managing Director – China Mr Chan Siu Hung meets with key stakeholders in Guangxi

On 20 February 2019, Managing Director – China of CLP Holdings Limited Mr Chan Siu Hung visited Mr Yang Jinbai, Vice Chairman of Guangxi, congratulating Mr Yang on assuming the post of Vice Chairman of Guangxi in late 2018 and making New Year greetings to all government leaders present at the meeting. Mr Chan shared the recent business performance of CLP Group and CLP China and the production and business updates of Guangxi Fangchenggang Power Station, and extended sincere thanks to the Guangxi government and related departments for their strong supports to the power station, especially in terms of further opening up of the Fangchenggang port where the power station is located.

Mr Chan noted that CLP considered Guangxi a major investment area and planned to increase investments in projects aligning with the emerging trends of new energy like wind power, big data centre, and incremental power distribution network. CLP would also provide supports to Guangxi’s philanthropic and poverty alleviation efforts in its own way, and expected to give some meaningful help to the Guangxi’s ethnic minorities and poverty-stricken areas.

Vice Chairman Yang highly appreciated CLP’s years of contributions to Guangxi’s power industry, people’s livelihood and economy. He also indicated that he personally had worked in the power system for years and was fully aware of CLP’s good reputation and leadership in the industry, and that Guangxi government would have full trust in and supports for CLP’s future investments in Guangxi.

On the same day, Mr Chan Siu Hung also visited Mr Chuai Xiaoyong, Chairman of Guangxi Power Grid Corporation. At the meeting, Mr Chan firstly sent New Year greetings to Chairman Chuai and all employees of Guangxi Power Grid, and extended sincere thanks to Chairman Chuai and the company for their full supports in the past year, adding that Fangchenggang Power Station reversed its production and operational losses and made marginal profits. He also noted that the two parties smoothly signed the cooperation agreement on the incremental power distribution network project in the Fangchenggang High-tech Industrial Development Zone. Mr Chan also presented the overall business, investment and acquisition performance of CLP Group and CLP China in 2018, and said that CLP would increase investments in Guangxi and further develop projects in new energy like wind power, big data centre, and an array of new incremental power distribution networks. He expressed hope that Chairman Chuai and Guangxi Power Grid would give continuous supports and consistently maintained the brotherly strategic partnership between the two companies.

Chairman Chuai extended sincere gratitude to CLP for arranging the CLP Power exchange visit for the Guangxi Power Grid Young Cadre Training Program in 2018, and noted that the participants gave highly positive feedbacks of the visit. He also expected that CLP would continuously support Guangxi Power Grid in sending young cadre delegation to CLP Power for visit and exchange in 2019. Built upon the successful cooperation on the incremental power distribution network project in Fangchenggang, he expected that Guangxi Power Grid would continue the close partnership with CLP, and that CLP would continuously work with Guangxi Power Grid and establish a strategic alliance.
