On 27 November 2019, Managing Director – China of CLP Holdings Limited Mr Chan Siu Hung visited the Department of Nuclear Power Safety Regulation (DNPSR) of the National Nuclear Safety Administration (NNSA), and met with DNPSR Director Tang Bo.

Mr Chan thanked NNSA’s ongoing supports to CLP, and presented the related developments of CLP Group and CLP China. He also noted that CLP as a shareholder of Daya Bay Nuclear Power Plant and Yangjiang Nuclear Power Plant, plays a highly important role in Hong Kong, and has made many efforts in such aspects as public communication and nuclear power education. He also expected opportunities of sharing CLP’s experience in nuclear power with NNSA and the nuclear industry players.

Mr Roger Chen, Senior Director – Nuclear Team, introduced the recent public opinions on nuclear power and other developments in Hong Kong to Director Tang.

According to Director Tang, China still has a great potential in developing nuclear power, and the mainland is faced with similar problems with Hong Kong – the challenge of public acceptance of nuclear power development remains. DNPSR is China’s regulator for nuclear power industry and is mainly responsible for releasing information to the public, and interpreting and promoting nuclear power policies and regulations. He also expected opportunities for both parties to enhance communication and exchanges.
